Significant changes are on the horizon with the Government's plan to replace the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA) with two new pieces of legislation: the Planning Act and the Natural Environment Act (NEA).
This reform aims to create a clearer distinction between land-use planning and the management of the natural environment, while also prioritising private property rights and streamlining processes.
